The history of the Lower Bear Creek area from initial construction in 2013 to it's current state in June 2017.
Lower Bear Creek - 2013
In late 2013 the BC&SJ was changing at a rapid pace. The helix had been constructed, the scrap-box South Jackson had been replaced with it's final configuration, the Salem aircraft carrier (temporary staging area) had been moved to the peninsula increasing the mainline run from two to three miles and the Siskiyou branch line was added along with the beginnings of Bear Creek yard.
Scenery in the new areas was strictly plywood, but immediately railroad west of the upper Bear Creek area, plans called for a farm and a lower bear creek area separated by a row of hills with the main line flying over the Siskiyou branch on a deck girder bridge (perhaps a bit reminiscent of the bridge to Andrews on John Allen's Gorre & Daphetid).
Lower Bear Creek - 2017
As of June 2017 the state of this area has remained the same. It needs more rockwork (in the cut to the left of the bridge area and on to the right of the bridge area). I'm hoping to try casting rocks using the Bragdon method. It also needs (duh):
The list goes one and on. We've been having some discussions about what type of farm shold be present. Recently we've started leaning toward a dairy farm.
I'm hoping that by the end of 2017 it may be complete. More scenery for trains to run through is always welcome.
I hope you've enjoyed the history lesson!
