Apr 11, 2014 - What's with all those clamps at the end of the left-hand wall? At this point, the work crew was concentrating on getting the peninsula backdrop started. The backdrop (check out the July 2014 issue of Model Railroad Hobbyist magazine) will be two sheets of 5mm plywood curved and laminated together to form a strong but thin view block from the benchwork all the way to the ceiling. The cleat on the ceiling, to which the backdrop will be fastened, is made of masonite splines (think masonite spline roadbed, except on the ceiling instead of the roadbed. It won't be long before the view across the entire train room starts to disappear.
