Apr 12, 2016 - You (or at least I) always forget something. The regular ME code 83 flextrack on the bridge has been replaced with ME code 83 bridge track. The ties are longer and more closely spaced together. They're also thicker. I hadn't taken this into account when I set the height of the bridge (and abutments and piers which were now glued in place) and made the top of the bridge girders flush with the roadbed on either side. Oops! Paul did some fancy trackwork adding a short section of regular flex track and tapered shims to bring the excess height down to normal. Luckily this seemed to work, at least we've been operating on this track for over a year without derailments.
