BCSJ III - February 2004

The third iteration of the Bear Creek and South Jackson railroad is beginning to materialize in my basement. Here are a few shots showing construction progress as of Feb 12, 2004.

Mill City from the previous generation of BC&SJ survived the trip to the new basement and has been installed (and renamed Mill Bend). Benchwork, spline roadbed and the tracks from Mill Bend to Redland (on the lower deck) are installed as are temporary trackage in Redland. For good measure my timesaver (Jallen) was connected at the end of Redland.

A small, temporary staging yard was added instead of South Jackson (at the West end of Mill Bend - note the directions are swapped between the previous BCSJ and this one - used to be East or your right - now it's East on your left). With a few cars and locos added this railroad is ready for (limited) operations!

Benchwork and spline roadbed are complete from Mill Bend up the 50 foot (helper) grade to Oak Hill (at the summit). Track is closing in on Oak Hill but is still about 15' short (guess what I'm working on this weekend).

Trackplans can be found here.
