The end of the Mill City branchline was about 1/4 mile behind me when
I took this picture of the Frank Lumber Company just west of Mill City.
Here at the end of the line there is a single run around track and a
spur into the Frank Lumber Co. yard. A bit farther down the road is
the Feres Bros. plywood plant.
While building Bear Creek & South Jackson version 2 based on a "what if" scenario where the Corvalis & Eastern RR was bought out in 1895 (after they ran out of money) by the BC&SJ which then completed the right of way up the Santiam Pass and on to Eastern Oregon and Pocatello, Idaho. I walked into Parr lumber to buy kiln-dried 2x4's. When I get home it turns out they came from Frank Lumber!!! So the benchwork for Mill City on the layout was framed with wood milled in a Mill City mill! |
