Rick caught TT&TO dispatch crew fever and working as the South Jackson operator. After a number of sessions he'll be eligible to sit in the dispatcher's chair. Here Rick is recording an OS on his OS tracking sheet before he passes it on to the dispatcher. The head set is plugged into one of Seth Neumann's Dispatcher/Operator Telephone Boards used by the BC&SJ dispatcher's phone network. There is a foot switch, too, providing stomp-to-talk operation of the headset. The headset provides a degree of insulation from the sometimes loud train room environment.
