The Mill Bend Turn got a late start today. It's work is entirely within South Jackson's yard limits so it normally runs on a clearance only - usually there are no train orders for it. Mill Bend can be a hectic place to do industrial switching with a steady parade of trains (such as eastward passenger local no. 20 visible at far left) passes through town. Because Mill Bend is next to South Jackson, experienced crew often run to Mill Bend and pick up all the pulls, take them back to South Jackson yard, then return with the setouts. This helps a lot when there are a lot of cars in your train and at the industries. Mill Bend is the older part of the layout dating back to the previous layout in my old house. Today Scott drew this (coveted) job assignment.
