The dispatcher just informed us that the Junction City west signal (if one was present) would be set to "approach". Apparently there's something heading at us from the east and we better be prepared to stop clear of the Junction City east turnout.
Nothing is in sight yet, but we're hoping whatever it is will arrive soon! The reefer express is the hottest train on the railroad - at least it's supposed to be - and the Superintendent of Nearly Everything frowns when it's delayed. We cut our speed way back and drift into town.
Our engines have just crossed the Albany Junction turnout where the Toledo branch will connect to the main. Right now, the Toledo branch and the town of Abner are still just some cork roadbed.
