Trains BCHE has left Salem and made it to Oakhill after which it will begin the long, steep, downgrade toward Mill Bend and South Jackson. Steep grades (like the 2.8% one ahead) and longish trains can bring out the worst in diesel power with the gear train getting jammed, then released, over and over causing what I call pogoing as the train start-stop-start-stop's itself down the hill. Fortunately Kato RS-2s and Atlas RS-1s are relatively immune to this, even without a back emf decoder.
