We simulated a wreck site and shot some photos. A problem than can occur when shooting outdoors on a diorama is seasonality. Note how summerish the foreground looks while the background looks verdantly springish. On the other, non-crane, photos it was early enough that the fields were still mostly dirt so they looked OK. Joe Fugate did some extensive photoshop work on the August 2012 MRH cover to bring the colors in line. But it's really hard to adjust colors without turning a photo garish.
