Test fitting buildings and trackwork in Abner!

Covid kind put into zombie mode. Not much happend over the past year on the BC&SJ. However, it appears I'm getting back to work on the railroad.

Abner was planned as a small area off the Toledo branch. Industries were going to be a bulk oil dealer, a furniture manufacturer, and a giant Leusner's factory.

This factory manufactures Castor Oil Flakes, the All Weather Breakfast. I use to listen a LOT to The Firesign Theater, a '70s comedy group. One of their skits The Further Adventures of Nick Danger Third Eye is a send up of the '20s and '30s private detective radio shows. In the YouTube linked video go to time 16:25 to find a commercial for the Castor Oil Flakes (they don't just wash your mouth out, they wash the whole system out, all the way down the line!).

In the process of trying to fit industries into the space available I discovered that tracks as originally planned wouldn't fit very well, so changes were required. The furniture factory would likely need to go, the bulk oil would need to be moved, and a car repair facility would be added.

The Leusner's factory will (probably) be the biggest structure on the layout.

These cell phone fotos show how some of the buildings are sited, and the preliminary stages of the Leusner's factory (probably it will be the biggest structure on the layout) along with trackage. None of the spur tracks or sidings or turnouts leading to them in Abner have been spiked in place. But I did want to mock up everything to ensure that it fit and that there were good camera angles for looking at it.

If you've a mind to, go ahead and check out the fotos.
