My painting efforts are hardly perfect. Nobody would mistake the trees in the backdrop are real trees. But they seem to work well at giving an illusion of depth. This is true when viewing the scene in person.

However, viewing the scene off angle spoils the illusion as does looking at the scene when walking pas it because the perspect doesn't change as the viewer moves. Maybe someday we'll use really wide screen TVs as backdrops with computer generated imagery programmed to change as people walk by... (lol)
