We cross the lower bridge across the layout entrance and enter the west end (arrival area) of Salem staging.

Anyone wishing to leave or enter the layout area during operations must get permission from the dispatcher to open this bridge. The briged aproach tracks are protected by a micro-switch that senses when the bridge is open and short-circuits the track for about 4 feet on either side.
