BCSJ II - April 9, 2001
Here are some snap shots of the new Bear Creek & South Jackson showing
construction progress on April 9, 2001. At this point half of lower level
staging is present, the staging lead (including the dual curved leg
crossing) to Bear Creek is installed, the bottom deck of the peninsula
and its stud wall are installed. Bear Creek yard has its trackwork
nearly completed needing the caboose track and engine facility.
A temporary two-track staging yard for Pocatello is installed to make
operation a bit more interesting. And temporary scaffolding has been
constructed allowing the Jallen and U-turn modules to be connected to
the unused leg of the lower deck staging. The walls that separate the
railroad area from the rest of the garage are installed as stud walls
and electrical power for DCC, switch stands, outlets, and room lighting
is installed.
The next tasks are installing the drop ceiling under the garage door
(above the Bear Creek turnback blob, and getting started on the roadbed
and track heading East (and up the hill) from Bear Creek Yard to Mill
City.
After reaching Mill City a new temporary Pocatello staging yard will
be added. At this point I anticipate doing no more trackwork until the
tracks, benchwork, turnouts, etc. on the lower deck are thoroughly
tested. I definitely don't want to be doing maintainance on turnouts
(especially a double slip switch) when the next deck is installed above
Bear Creek!

photographic quality isn't as great as it might otherwise be. For
construction photos they're ok.
