If an engineer is smart he doesn't use any throttle while in a tunnel and just coasts through. Eating smoke really isn't fun. This works fine for short, level tunnel 2 but in a moment he and his fireman will be having breathing problems as they tackle tunnel 1 which is longer and on an upgrade too.
